Profile

I have worked in renewable energy, boutique automotive manufacture and Defence.

I'm currently working at SPI Global Play. We are industry leaders in the design and manufacture of play equipment.
In my first year at SPI Global Play I have become Project manager and technical lead for Skyrider, a company purchased by SPI Global Play.

Education

2014, Product Design Engineering BSc at The University of Derby.

2015 – 1, International Innovation MSC at Lancaster University.

Experience

Senior Technical Engineer

SPI Global Play

June 2018 to Present (1 year, 2 months.) Wrexham.

  • My role involves overseeing the development of new play products and overseeing the project management and technical development for our Skyrider product. Skyrider is a zip line roller coaster which we design and install all over the world.

Product Design Engineer

Survitec Group

May 2016 – June 2018 (2 years,1 month.) Birkenhead

I have been working with Survitec designing a multitude of products.

  • Waterproof Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) - The largest project I worked on was creating a waterproof suite of medical products to go along side our non-waterproof solutions. This waterproof suite was a major factor in our winning of a tender from the Norwegian military which will bring £18 million over a three year contract. One of the waterproof items has made over £200,000 from a single customer in my first year at Survitec.

  • New generation of single seat life rafts- I have recently been working on creating an innovative new single seat life raft for fast jet and helicopter pilots. Using a patent pending technology developed by my team, myself and two consultants created a revolutionary lightweight and compact life raft which has been designed specifically to fit in most pilot seats for fast jet aircraft. The life raft is so compact it can even be worn on body armour for helicopter pilots and fixed wing aircrew.

  • Survitec Operational Network of CBRN Solutions (Sonics) Milpod – The Milpod is a specialist stretcher used for extraction and treatment of a casualty that has been injured or contaminated in a CBRN environment. The system ensures the first responder team or the aircraft or vehicle used for the extraction are not contaminated. I designed the inflatable frame and worked closely with the inventor Chris May to bring his creation to a production ready product.

  • Trade show support and travel- I have helped with multiple trade shows around the globe,  as the VP of Innovation and New Product Development knew I could be relied on to produce prototypes on very short notice and give technical support at the shows.

Design Consultant

BBOXX.

May 2015 – March 2016 (10 months) Lancaster  / Guangzhou China.

  • I worked with BBOXX to design a new solar system for manufacture in 2016. My job role was to lead the design project and work alongside the engineers and business analysts at BBOXX.

Design Consultant

Far-UK Ltd.

May 2015 – March (10 months) Lancaster  / Guangzhou.

  • My job role at Far UK was initially to design a bespoke suspension solution for an ultra-lightweight vehicle. As a designer my focus was on the needs of the consumers in a suspension system, whilst my engineering counterparts focused on the design of the system itself.
